Amanda Jones was born in Williamsburg, VA and raised in Richmond, VA with her seven younger siblings and a menagerie of pets. She was first on stage at the young age of 8 in a production of Brigadoon. She continued to perform all throughout high school with local community theatres, high school productions, and dinner theatres.

She attended The College of William and Mary where she received a BA in Vocal Performance with a Theatre Performance minor. After graduating, she decided to pursue her dreams of becoming a nurse practitioner. She attended Johns Hopkins University; obtaining a BSN and MSN in nursing.
She gave birth to her daughter Gabriella in 2009 and was able to finally get back to performing in 2012 after a 13 year hiatus. She was thrilled to find a theatre home at The Victorian Lyric Opera Company in Rockville, MD. She has served as an actress, board member, and producer with the company.

Amanda lives in Maryland with her husband and daughter. She works at The National Institutes of Health; doing research on rare pulmonary diseases.
​
Amanda has been lucky enough to play almost all the mezzo leads in the wonderful operettas of Gilbert & Sullivan. She was first introduced to G&S by her parents and it holds a special place in her heart. Favorite roles include Phoebe (Yeomen of the Guard), Mad Margaret (Ruddigore), Buttercup (HMS Pinafore), and Tessa (The Gondoliers).

She has also performed with other local theatre companies. Notable roles include Winnifred Banks (Mary Poppins), Betty Haynes (White Christmas), and Meg Brockie (Bridgadoon).​
